Teak Oil is often made from tung oil or linseed oil with extra additives added in. Oils in a sense ‘feeds’ the wood; oils highlight and accentuates the grain and colour. Many people chose oils for the warm, rich look you get; however, oils do not protect the wood and are very high maintenance many coats are needed to upkeep the look. Sunlight and UV rays carbonize the oils turning the wood dark and grey overtime.
Semco Teak Sealer is not absorbed by the teak, it seals in the natural oils and resins and at the same time prevents contaminants and moisture from settling in and harming the teak. Teak sealer does not need to be applied as often as oils but best to apply a nice coat annually.
