Chopped strand fiberglass mat is widely used in the fiberglass industry to reinforce materials. It has several advantages, such as being affordable and easily conforming to various shapes.
While not as strong as fabrics, it is a great choice for cost-effective and efficient construction. The mat can be used alone or in combination with fiberglass fabrics or woven roving for larger projects.
It is commonly used in plywood decking buildup and inserted between fabric layers during molding. For complete saturation of a 300 gram chopped strand fiberglass mat, approximately 680 grams of resin per square meter is needed.
