Essential Maintenance Tips for Your Inflatable Tender
Maintaining your boat tender is vital for safety, longevity, and performance. A well-kept tender not only enhances your boating experience by providing reliability but also improves safety and can save you money on future repairs. Regular upkeep preserves your tender’s appearance and ensures it functions effectively when you need it most. If you need assistance or want to stock up on maintenance supplies, our chandlery is here to help! We offer a wide range of products to keep your tender in top shape.
1. Visual Inspection
Begin with a thorough visual inspection of your tender. Check for tears and abrasions on the hull and fabric, especially in high-friction areas. Look for signs of discoloration that may indicate UV damage or exposure to harsh elements. Conduct a water test by submerging the tender to identify leaks — bubbles forming on the surface can indicate air escaping from punctures. For an air pressure test, inflate the tender and apply soapy water to seams and potential leak areas; bubbles will form at any leaks.
Solutions for Visual Issues
Restore your tender with our Blue Marine range:

4. Accessory Inspection
Inspect accessories, starting with oars; check for damage and ensure oarlocks are secure and functional. If your tender has an outboard motor, verify fuel an oil levels, check hoses and connections for leaks and corrosion, and ensure the motor mount is secure and ready for use.
Examine the anchor, rope and chain for damage and ensure they are ready for use. If applicable, inspect battery connections and charge status. Replace or have a certified electrician check over.
Finally, verify that safety equipment—such as life jackets, flares, and fire extinguishers—is in good condition and not expired.
